Antichrist is a 2009 horror film written and directed by Lars von Trier, about a couple who, after the death of their child, retreat to a cabin in the woods where they encounter strange and terrifying occurrences. The film stars only two actors, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe. The narrative is made up of a Prologue, four chapters and an Epilogue.
Grieving for the death of their infant son, a couple seek solace at Eden, their remote woodland cabin. As they struggle to come to terms with their loss, nature itself seems to turn against them.
Winner, Best Actress (Charlotte Gainsbourg), Cannes Film Festival 2009.
